Designed by the artistic hand of a resident architect to make the most of its seaside location, this home is kama’aina (child of the land, longtime resident) owned and loved for 30 years and now continuing under a different family. It combines the essential beach-house views of ocean, honu (sea turtles), wintertime whales and striking sunsets with the best amenities that a luxury home offers. With first-floor bedroom suites, and two upstairs “view suites” with private balconies, and an open sleeping loft, you’ll find plenty of space for both solitude and community for your extended family or group.     Our family of 10 thoroughly enjoyed the property. The house was fully equipped and the furnishings were more than comfortable. The view and water access is unbeatable with ocean life galore. We loved that the house was nice, but not so fancy that you were nervous of the kids damaging something. This is a quiet street and very safe and peaceful.

    We had the most AMAZING time at Big Island Kaiakea House. This was our fist trip as a family to Hawaii and it definitely won't be our last! We have 8 children ranging from 5 years old to 24 and this house was perfect! I already miss it soo much! This stretch of Puako is like something from a storybook. right out front we saw Humpback whales constantly, along with so many turts, eels, angel fish, humuhumunukunukuapua's, flying fish, butterfly fish, porkupine fish and schools of who knows what they're called. We found a small area of the reef steps from the sea wall perfect for our young ones to snorkel without being exposed to currents and waves that was absolutely full of sea-life. There we saw an eagle ray, manta rays, black tip reef sharks and so, so much more! We went to Costington's and filled both refrigerators with food and Champaign and really didn't want to leave except for a few beach days at Hapuna and 69 (Thanks for the use of the boogie boards in the garage). I really want to thank the owners for making it available for New Years and Trinity for being such good hosts. As you can see by the booking availability, we're not the only ones who feel this way about this place!!

    BI Kaiakea is such a perfect home for extended families. Every room is spacious, uncluttered, handsomely decorated, and open to the sea. We found it spotlessly clean, very well stocked with kitchen and laundry supplies, and perfectly designed for a large family to spend time together. We spent many relaxing hours on the deck, watching sunsets, and enjoying the turtles just below the seawall. Access to the ocean directly in front of the house is limited, but it’s just a short drive to several beautiful beaches. Our grandchildren had the loft to themselves and each couple had a huge bedroom and bath. Our grandchildren especially loved the enormous showers! We’d definitely recommend BI Kaiakea!
